Ms. Winzinger practices solely in family law matters. Family law cases often deal with matters impacting your rights to your children and property. Ms. Winzinger is passionate about helping protect your rights and will stand up for your personal safety, your children, and your property when you need it most.
Jessica Winzinger is the attorney and owner of Winzinger Law. Born and raised in New Jersey, Jessica was a child of a high conflict divorce and chose to utilize her law degree to advocate for children and families going through similar difficulties. Jessica graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in communications in 2010 from Bethany College, West Virginia.. As a senior at Bethany, Jessica interned with Judge Joyce D. Chernenko of the First Family Court Circuit, covering Ohio, Brooke, and Hancock County in West Virginia. It was during this time Jessica was able to sit with Judge Chernenko through several months worth of family court proceedings to learn, including regular dockets for domestic violence protective order requests and child custody/divorce proceedings.
After falling in love with the country roads of West Virginia during her undergraduate career at Bethany, she went right to law school at West Virginia University College of Law in Morgantown, West Virginia. It was as a “Mountaineer” in the rural areas of the mountain state, that she first began working with and representing domestic violence survivors in divorce and protective order cases through her fellowship with Legal Aid of West Virginia in 2012. This unique experience exposed her to many of the case issues she handles on a case by case basis. Jessica graduated from West Virginia University College of Law in May 2013 with her J.D.
After graduation, Jessica went to visit Alaska and moved two months later. She sat for the Alaska Bar Exam in February 2014 and was licensed in May of 2014. However, she chose to not actively practice law at that time and instead worked as a Family Services Case Worker for Office of Children's Services. It is through this experience Jessica is well versed child development, trauma effects, OCS policies and procedures, and child in need of aid (OCS) cases.
Jessica left OCS in August 2017, and began practicing law on a limited basis on a variety of case types. She began working full time as an associate attorney with Nyquist Law in 2018 where she practiced solely in family law matters. During her time with Nyquist, she gained a significant amount of experience with divorce, child custody, guardianship, and both private and OCS adoption cases. Due to her background with OCS, Jessica is skilled at navigating intricate cases with many players and complicated issues involving professionals, such as OCS, child therapists, forensic psychologists, law enforcement, GALs, and custody investigators. In March 2021, Jessica left Nyquist Law and opened Winzinger Law in April 2021. Jessica is an aggressive advocate for her clients, while still balancing the need for clients to peacefully move forward in life.
She was born and raised in Tennessee and attended Austin Peay State University and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in English with a minor in communications. After graduations she gained knowledge and experience through her work in various different fields. In 2020, Rachel visited Alaska and loved the environment and scenery. In 2021, she moved to Alaska and began her work with Winzinger Law in July 2021. Rachel chose to work with Winzinger Law to help families reach resolutions and help survivors of domestic violence. In her free time, she enjoys rockhounding and taking photographs of the scenery Alaska has to offer.
